Rissa

Rissa attempts to live the passage from Louisa May Alcott’s book Little Women, “Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will bring few regrets, and life will become a beautiful success." She works full time as a recreation therapist  and in her spare time she likes exploring new hobbies in addition to spending time with family.

Exhibition work

"To reflect on the topic of belonging, I first thought it would be important to reflect on moments throughout my life that I felt like I belonged. I looked through my photos and selected ones that spoke to me that I belonged.

The choice to use the same photos for all three pieces is purposeful. Through my reflection on the belonging/exclusion dichotomy, I realized that the same experiences can elicit both emotions.  The differences are in the interactions with others and within myself.  My own self worth impacts how I interacted within the world and perceive the memories. Thank you for taking the time to look at my art and I hope it gives you ideas to mull over."
